Shockwave Therapy – Most effective pain relief Treatment for stubborn pain!

In this blog we are going to talk about “Shockwave Therapy” one of the latest invention in electrotherapy for acute and chronic pain.

We are one of the few clinics who offers Shockwave Therapy in Markham and Ajax area.  After using this modality for more than two years I am convinced that including a shockwave therapy device seems essential part of treatment protocol.

Shockwave therapy is latest breakthrough in electro modality which most effective in the most of acute as well as chronic cases. If you have been suffering with your pain for long time or suggested for surgery then I suggest to read following case study which I experience with one of my patient and how Shockwave Therapy Heal Patient’s Pain and brought Pain Free Life to patient.

Prior to using shockwave therapy, I was confident that between my manual skills, myofascial release, k-taping techniques and ultra sound, LASER machine etc. was effectively treating most of my patient’s conditions.  However, there are some conditions that even my techniques weren’t effective enough to resolve.  Calcifications in tendons are one of them.  It’s nearly impossible to disperse or remove them with hands, K-tapping or even ultrasounds.

A final try of conservative treatment with lots of hope:

I had a patient who had calcific tendinopathy on the left supraspinatus and had already gone through an intensive physiotherapy program.  She eventually ended up seeking surgery.  Her surgeon suggested that she try shockwave therapy as a last resort before considering surgery.

She had pain with all shoulder movements mainly overhead and behind the back.  Her pain level was between 6 and 8 on VAS scale measure with 0 means no pain and 10 is worse pain. She was limited in her daily activities involving repetitive usage of hand requiring cleaning dishes, laundry, cooking, mopping Etc.

Guess what!! – It worked!

According to my observation a patient needs average 5 to 8 sessions of shockwave therapy to recover.  This particular patient was given twice a week shockwave therapy with ongoing manual therapy lots of exercise for 6 weeks.

The amount of calcium built up in her shoulder was in significant amount which needed a total of 12 treatment sessions to remove it entirely. She was reassessed by surgeon after 3 months which was prior to surgery and her shoulder reports came almost clear.  Her doctor was really pleased with results and she escaped the whole surgical procedure due to this miracle.

This patient’s journey to recover – one amongst many others – is why I believe Shockwave therapy is most effective electro modality and it makes fast impact on patient recovery.

I use shockwave therapy more extensively in treating musculoskeletal injuries.  I have treated many patients with plantar fascitis, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, myofascial trigger point, chronic back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain to name some of them with Shockwave therapy.  And in most cases I have noticed difference after 1-2 Shockwave therapy.

Healing Touch is one of the first one to introduce Shockwave therapy in Markham and Ajax, this has helped us to pioneer in providing this modality at right parameters.  Please book an appointment with us for Shockwave therapy if you are suffering from your pain for long time.
