Tigger points are usually painful when its pressed and may cause pain in other area. Thera are also latent knots which means they are present in your muscles but they are not painful. Longitudinal Gliding Massage Therapy
Longitudinal gliding is the basic technique of long, gliding, strokes in the direction of the blood flow, or longitudinal. Longitudinal gliding is a basic but effective massage treatment administered in the right direction of the blood circulation. By performing the gliding, it helps fluid to distribute from injury muscle which then reduces inflammation and swelling. This technique really helps to relax tight muscles. This technique of massage has many variations as follow:
- Deep Tissue Massage
- Swedish Massage
- Deep Longitudinal stripping
In all these techniques, gliding is performed to help improve blood circulation which reduces swelling and inflammation to relieve pain.
Transverse Friction Massage Therapy
Transverse Friction massage is a transverse connective tissue therapy applied directly by the fingers. Transverse frictions use an oscillating pressure applied across the direction of the tissue fibres. This technique is used mainly on tendon or ligament injuries to help break down thickened, pain-producing scar tissue. If these lesions are not reduced then they are likely to cause further irritation and degenerate soft tissue more quickly than they should. This technique is valuable in treating muscle, tendon, and ligamentous injuries in both acute and chronic conditions.
Kneading Massage Therapy
Kneading massage can be performed in circular techniques by which the skin and the underlying structures are moved in a circular rotating motion on the underlying structures. Tissue is lifted and rolled away from the bone, and then back towards the bone with squeezing compressive action. This massage manipulation is performed using different parts of the therapists hand and/or fingers depending on the area of body that is being kneaded. Other variations on this technique also depend on the area that is being worked.
Myofascial Release Massage Therapy
Myofascial release is manual technique for stretching the fascia with the aim to balance the body. Fascia is located between the skin and the underlying structure of muscle and bone, it is a seamless web of connective tissue that covers and connects the muscles, organs, and skeletal structures in our body. Injuries, stress, trauma, and poor posture can cause restriction to fascia, and the goal of myofascial release is to release fascia restriction and restore its tissue.
